One of the closest contest ever saw Westcroft JC win the league for the 3rd successive year by a margin of just 5 points over their nearest rivals Pyrford. The full Millennium League Results can be found on the Pyrford wesite. 2005 is turning out to be a great year for the club as it has also seen them win the London Borough of Sutton Sports Club of the Year Award. Club coaches - Scoutabout !

Dear All

We have been approached by Surrey Scouts and Guides to provide some sporting activity at "Scoutabout"

What is Scoutabout? Scoutabout is an extraordinary event that only happens once every three years - 5,000 Scouts and Guides aged between 10 and 14 from all over Surrey participating in a weekend of fun, learning and activities.

Where is Surrey Scoutabout? At the South East of England Showground, Ardingly, West Sussex

When is it? The weekend of 24th-26th June 2005

This would be a fantastic opportunity to reach our target audience and showcase some of the fantastic work we do.

The idea is that we have a 'sports zone' where young people can come and try out a range of sporting activity, from individual agility to team sports.

I know that the weekend is just after the Youth Games, but scoutabout would promise to be something a little bit different and get us out there in the community!

There are 3 opportunities 10 - 1pm & 2-5pm on the Sat & 10-1pm on the Sun. (You can do as much or as little as you like, you can even camp there overnight!!!)

If people are interested in running an activity or would like to put their name forward, or names of club personnel, cscs coaches who might be interested in attending please can you let me know by Friday 8th April 2005.

This would also be a good opportunity to promote summer activity, local clubs and remaining Active Surrey activity.

This is a great opportunity, please can we all see what we can do

Many thanks

Grading Sheets

It keeps coming up on a regular basis that there are some clubs who still do not know that Peter Powell is the Southern Area Registrar and that all grading sheets must go to him. Don't send them to John Pluckrose !
Thank you for your help in this matter.

Pyrford in the medals

At the weekend Pyrford Judo Club members were very busy.

On saturday 12th February several made the journey to Walsall to represent their schools in the British Schools Judo Association National Trials. Katie Dean took 2nd place at under 70kg, Harry Fenner (Bishop David Brown) and Sonya Clarke ( St John The Baptist) both took 4th places in very tough groups. Also on saturday, others were a little closer to home in the Docklands, competing in the 1400 competitor London Judo International at the Excel centre. The medals started with Sarah Benktander taking Gold over clubmate Catherine Jamieson after both girls had won several tough preliminary contests. Bronze medals went to Kieran Rice and his sister Colleen, Robert McCallum, Benny Wilk and Ben Naunton Davies. Ben has also just learnt of his selection to represent Great Britain Cadets at a tournament in Rouen France. Also competing on Saturday were Stevie Warr and Sebastian Wilk.
